Architectural Salvage Store Hosts Lodger Dinner
Hudson Valley House Parts hosted a Moroccan-inspired meal December 29, 2018. The night was complete with wine, community table seating, hors d’oeuvres and dessert.
Renowned chef Leon Johnson, owner of LODGER at 188 Liberty Street, served a decadent vegetarian Moroccan soup and pot pie dinner. Over a dozen diners enjoyed conversation, great food, and community in the store’s unique setting. It’s everything Johnson strives to encourage at the LODGER.
Typically Johnson hosts weekend brunch and dinner meals at his Liberty Street location. His desire is to be a new model for community engagement and creative event space. He seeks to use his kitchen as a classroom to train aspiring chefs and restauranteurs. As a result, his community-focused eatery employees local high school students who want to learn the front and back end of the business.
LODGER welcomes educators, artists, authors, farmers and chefs to partner in the play of ideas and the creation of innovative events and gatherings. Since its August 2018 opening, it has already hosted a 6-week culinary workshop for the city of Newburgh’s youth through the local Awesome Foundation Grant.
You can go to the Lodger’s website to reserve your spot at weekly Friday dinner or Sunday brunch meals. Expect to meet new people and learn something new about Newburgh, all while enjoying a delicious meal!
